RV There yet??
No, not quite there... yet. Still so much to do before we climb into La Casita, point her nose West and start our chosen lifestyle.
Dismantling one's household can be quite the daunting task. I don't know how many times we've went through the same box or dresser drawer, getting rid of an item or two each time. It's not just the task of choosing what to get rid of, it's also deciding where that item goes. Do we keep it in storage? Do we pass it down to a family member? Do we take it with us? Do we even have ROOM to take it with us?
This decision process runs the gamut from clothing and shoes to memorabilia and keepsakes. Heck, Barbara and I even discussed what to do with the bag of paperclips we found in the office drawer! We opted to send it, as well as a bunch of other stuff, to Goodwill.
So, as you can tell, we are not there yet. There is still so much to do. We have furniture to sell, a 32" TV to sell, more stuff to donate (or perhaps we'll hold a one day garage sale), one more Passport to get (mine), Storage Locker to acquire, boxes and motorcycles to move, a car to junk and.... whew.... so much more that I doubt I can remember them all as I write.
Seems pretty stressful, doesn't it? It is. More so for Barbara who is working more than 40 hours a week at her job. Her last day for that will be April 29th and yes, she's counting them down. But all of this stress and decision making is going to reap a huge benefit for us! At least that's what we're hoping for. No more being tied to one piece of ground, seeing the same old houses around you day after day. No more driving the same boring route from work to home and from home to work day in and day out. No more property tax. No more utility contracts. A change of scenery whenever we choose that we need a change. And quite honestly, we're finding that downsizing can be quite empowering and in a sense, a real feeling of freedom. We like that.
So, let me wrap this up by giving you an update of our plans.
As I said, Barbara's last day at work is April 29th. At that time, we will be finalizing the last few things that need to be done and will probably be staying a week or so at Alum Creek in our RV. Camping at Alum for awhile will give us a chance to see family and friends. As of right now, we plan on pulling out of Central Ohio by Mid-May.
Also before I close out, if you would, please take the time to respond and let us know that you received this posting. I can see that most "followers" have confirmed their request to receive updates but a few have not. We really don't want to leave any of you out of the loop, 'cause we really appreciate your interest and quite frankly, may need to hear your comments in the coming months to ease any symptoms of homesickness that we might have. :-) Thanks for signing up and coming along for the ride!
Bud and Barbara
